As far as I feel about the issue when it comes to Contests and Underground, even people that got the game day one don't have the entire picture because they can't play locally or online with other people, which was a major point when they first announced them.
You are right in the fact that they cut how they used to work, but they're not entirely gone. Also why would I give a fuck about Platinum's non-important NPC trainer rematches in any capacity when most are just level increases? Once again you're right but no one will be complaining about this.

How does more fights that weren’t in the originals being in the game not equate to additional fights being in the game? In BDSP there are MORE fights because every significant trainer you battled including Team Galactic appear in the Battle Tower

There are Battle Tower Single battles for every Gym Leader, Elite Four, Stat Trainer, Rival, and Team Galactic Admin, as well as Battle Tower Double battles for all of them as well. There are rematches for all Gym Leaders, and two tiers for the Elite Four, Champion, and rival. There are full battles against Dawn/Lucas as well. It literally blows Platinum’s “additional fights” out of the water, you disingenuous moron.

This statement is only negative if you're a retard. Yes, less POINTLESS content is better. Trim the fat, make a more focused experience. It's why Contests got cut in gens 5 and onward, and as much as I like it it's also why following pokemon got cut for so long; fun feature, but ultimately more trouble than it's worth to implement. Less trouble in 3d for sure though, since you can re-use models from battles.

Do you think that movies would be better if the director left in every single scene and every single bad take in the main movie itself? No, no it wouldn't. Do you think an all you can eat buffet is better than a meal from a 3-star restaraunt? No, no you do not and if you do then your opinion can be discarded.

They removed filler content like Looker, Charon, and the rando trainers and focused on taking the important stuff like the gym, E4, and Champion rematches to the next level.

Both contests were bad, and it's easier to play through now if you feel forced to, but that doesn't make them fun.

Anon, have you played any kind of rhythm game in your life?
Even Mario Party has more interesting rhythm game minigames.
How is a minigame designed to be done perfectly by a child fun for you? It's slow and there are barely any necessary inputs required.

I'm not even someone who's forcing the idea that BDSP are amazingly bad, but this idea that the contests are fun is baffling to me. I'm glad you enjoy them, I guess.
