I used to want these in the games back as I thought having Pokemon be different types was really cool. Now we got regionals which do that and more which is nice.

I started getting into TCG when the Delta Species was out. I thought it was so cool and so much better that the Pokemon's typing in the card is being represented by a certain affinity or skill and it didn't have to be just stuck with the usual typing. I wish that could have carried forward, but instead it got replaced with regional forms.

All Pokémon cards from after Nintendo took over the TCG are vapid trash though.

The game was only interesting when it was grounded and restrained and felt like it took the Pokémon world seriously. Pokédex entries and data on the cards, natural looking artwork. Only one card for each Pokémon, meaning collecting the card was the same as collecting the Pokémon itself. No stupid gimmicks or over-the-top shit.

It might just be me getting old, but why has the art gotten so bad in recent tcg sets? You look at Gen 1-3 and most of 4's cards and you see some really cool and (dare I say) soulful art. Now it's all shitty 3D or boring cards. Not to say all cards suck now, I'm a big fan of the alt art full arts and the trainer cards.

there was literally never a time when there was "one card for each pokemon". In base set only 69 pokemon were present, and in the very next set (Jungle) there was already e.g. another pikachu

hell, even when base set rolled out there were already multiple promo pikachu cards
