The games would still look like soulless dogshit but at least they'd stand up to Platinum.
Using newer Pokemon in the old region was one of the main reasons for a remake in the first place, the other was modernizing the region in the current engine with newer gameplay mechanics. They didn't do any of that unless you consider the forced exp share and amie cheating bullshit gameplay mechanics.

I feel you. I couldn't even finish it because it's literally just DP. Least ORAS, despite it being bad, added some things to keep me coming back. There is no reason to play BDSP if you already own Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum. (And if you own the latter, then hold onto it for dear life.)
