Staring in your humble village, enjoying life as best you can with your friends, you meet a Mysterious Man at the lake. Suddenly your village is raided by an unknown army. They rase it to the ground in search of a man named Rowan, one of your village elder and mentor. After saving and fleeing with Rowan, he tells Dawn and her marry band to head to the capital.
Reaching your destination, you once again encounter the Mysterious Man. Who reveals himself as Cyrus, one of the heads of state. He guides you to your awaiting audience but warns you will find little help here. True to Cyrus' words, your pleas fall on deaf ears. Rowan then suggests meeting with High Priestess Cynthia, as she would better understand the possible implication of this threat and sway opinion. Fortunately, he also happens to be a former mentor of hers as well and you're greeted with open arms.
She tasks you to find this army's base of operation while she and Rowan continue the very research that led to his exile. This leads to several skirmishes with the Galactic Army and their Generals, Mars and Jupiter, before finding their base helmed by Saturn. Who reveals your efforts were for not, as their true lead, Cyrus, has just succeeded in his coup.
Now as Cyrus moves his plans to its final stage, Cynthia tasks you with uniting the remanding Lords of the 8 Sinnoh Kingdoms that aren't already in your party to oppose him. Leading to splitting your forces for the great battles at the Sacred Lakes and one final confrontation with Saturn. Who reveals Cyrus' true plan to awaken the Original One and restore order and prosperity to the world?
