>>48775428>it's totally great distribution to only have two Fire and Ice types each before the postgame You can get around 5 of each, but do keep in mind gens 1-4 have 34 fire types between them, 12 of which are starters and 4 of which are legendaries - that's right, around 45% of the fire types from gens 1-4 are legendaries or starters.
As for ice, there's only 22 and of those two are legendaries and most of the rest are water/ice and most of those are definitely native to oceans - of which there is very little in Sinnoh.
The problem main gens 1-4 have is that ice and fire are drastically underrepresented types in general, so there's obviously going an issue there. But it's not so bad, because fire and ice aren't exceptional typings and nothing they're strong against isn't weak to something else as of Gen 6 and Fairy being introduced. Couple that with the fact other types can learn fire and ice moves and it's a non-issue.
