True. Despite continuing to fuck up the postgame, they still had some effort and soul put into them. USUM made some missteps with the story but lots of improvements as well.
Hilariously it made more changes to SM in 1 year than BDSP did to DP in 15 years.

The Gen 8 DLC has some Soulful Dialogue, but honest to god this game relies way, way too heavily long cutscenes. Whether it's your rival showing you around town or having to hear everyone's reaction to the villain giving his speech.
I wish the games had more weirder one off moments and acted less like it was a slice of life anime trying to develop a group of rivals.

If you just skip SM because you know GF is a grabage company, and start with USUM, it's a fine game. The story is stupid, the intro is too long, the cities are too big with too little content, but the gameplay is fine. The online system is prehistoric compared to the previous gen, but the battles are just perfect

Good games, awful Pokémon games however. Sword shield already made me lose all hope in the Pokémon series, so seeing BDSP be dogshit hardly came off as a surprise.

I dropped Gen 7, but almost entirely because I felt like the tutorial never, ever, ever ended and constantly had my hand held. It never felt like an adventure, it felt like being guided around a theme park and visiting the attractions.
I have good things to say about Gen 7, but fuck me, I couldn't deal with that shit.
