I tried a few, it's quite literally just a shitty rhythm game that has horrible detection for brilliant hits. the moves each do something retarded like making it easier to score points or cucking the others. also you don't get ribbons from beating the contests, just fucking stickers. I unironically hate this shit, it's like the dancing thing in BW but you don't even get to dress up your pokemon. there's no fucking strategy involved whatsoever with what moves to use since you're locked into only using one move and it barely affecting a rhythm game. I hate it so much, I miss old contests, they felt like actual pet shows.

It's all true, and I stopped having fun the moment I did a contest, so maybe don't do it anon. playing this feels like coming home from work but everything is mirrored, it feels the same at first but you slowly begin to realize something is wrong the longer you stay.

The gen 4 contests only happened because Love and Berry was super popular with 6 year old girls at the time, so they incorporated elements from it into the game. Hence the dress up and single-button rhythm game.

I hope everyone who bought this game fucking suffers, I'm so angry about how gutted contests are because I was willing to overlook every single bad aspect of BDSP if it had online contests, and it does! But the contests are fucking missing. I've been seething about it for days thinking about how we could have had a contest general and played against one another, tryinig out different strats and finding the best moveset and playstyle for each contest type.
But its all fucking gone, nice faithful remake, ICLA, and nice job supporting this slop, /vp/.

something you do have to admit is that this is a fairly good game considering its ILCA's first foray into game development, if this sells well and they're allowed to do the BW remakes we might get the best pokemon games ever made.

you fags are really overreacting about how bad the games are, it's ILCA's first game and it has a suprising amount of soul and effort put into it, but they lacked the experience to make it actually good. I believe that if they get another chance and are given some resources they could make an amazing gen 5 remake.

How fucked in the head are you that you think ILCA actually gave a shit about this game? If they actually cared we'd get the full contest experience back and a properly reimagined Sinnoh, but this game is "faithful" only so they could cut as many corners as possible from cutting Platinum features like the Battle Frontier to gutting contests to removing shit like the GTS so people are more inclined to download HOME.
I don't want them to touch Unova, I pray every day GF HQ gets struck by lightning and the rights magically fall in the lap of literally any other dev company that treats Pokemon the way it deserves.

I never said the contests weren't absolute dogshit anon, the good parts I was talking about are some of the teams and the postgame gym leader rematches. you're dumber than a pile of bricks if you don't think ILCA had no idea what they were doing, didn't have enough time and had to do most of the shit in-house without any outside assistance. I believe that if they get another shot at it we'll see something on par with HGSS.

well anon, the new gym leader animations are nice and express their personalites, the old chateau is spooky as ever, maybe even more so and even before the postgame rematches I was pleasantly surprised by some of the battles, the AI used status effects and then lowered my stats with some shitmon, then brought out their main and fucking destroyed me. honestly they feel like fan games, but there is effort in there.and if you can't notice it you're a fucking retard.

Seriously, I hate you. They cut every corner imaginable but you're giving it a pass because they used status effects in battle? Are you serious? Entire sections of gameplay are outright gone and this game reeks of no effort but omg the heckin old chateau!!!!!

Just imagine for a second if we got a real Sinnoh remake with an upgraded Sinnoh in full 3D with added sidequests and stoylines and new places to visit, but instead we're getting a worse version of a 2006 game for $60 where the characters still jerk around on a grid. Awful.

everyone on /vp/ always bitches and whines about howuch better pokemon could be if it was handed to a different developer, and here we are, a developer who has never made a single game before this and therefore can learn and come into their own, but only if game freak lets them. they had to cut corners because they were short on time and had a FUCKTON of pressure put on them, and game freak only lent them Masuda. now that they have some coding experience under their belts, reviews that can help them learn from their mistakes and the willingness to add actual difficulty to the games they could make some of the best pokemon games, but they need to be given a chance and adequate resources. ILCA has the potential to make good games, something game freak lost years ago.
