imo this is unironically true for the Switch.
LGPE are short games with a really bad catching mechanic and very little in regards to a postgame besides Mewtwo, grinding for Melmetal in GO, and the incredibly pointless Master Trainers. The game's presentation is decent at best but things like constantly being overleveled because of catching tons of Pokemon and the incredibly contrived co-op makes it pathetically easy. The nice palette and proper riding Pokemon/scaling are the best parts of the game, but the actual meat is pathetic.
SWSH pre-DLC has a similar issue of a pathetically small amount of postgame, now coupled with a very poor presentation and shallow characters held in high regard only for their designs. They did such a shit job with the story that Twilight Wings almost feels like necessary viewing to get to know who the characters are.
Post DLC is marginally better, with Crown Tundra sticking out with its silly story, decent exploration and Peony being a fun character to be around. However they do still feel like excuses to resell you old Pokemon, and that's a hard pill to swallow.
BDSP are not difficult games by any means and the presentation on the overworld is mediocre, but the core region design of Sinnoh holds up better than Kanto/Galar and the story/characters are just as fun as they were in the originals. Its postgame is also nicely packed together despite a lack of a battle frontier.
That being said the lack of Platinum content overall is this games biggest hurdle. Revised gym puzzles, updated distribution, new area visuals, gym order changes, etc were done to buff up the original DP. Things like the Wifi Plaza, Villa and Battle Frontier were fun additions that feel like strange omissions.
All that being said, I think the best overall packages from Gen 6-8 are
ORAS and USUM, with USUM having the most game overall.
