Realistically, what stops Nintendo from giving pokemon to another developer without GF meddling or making a in house main game?

Game Freak own creative rights to it, you fucking retard child. Nintendo can't "take it off them" as Game Freak are privately owned, are deeply embedded at the core of the whole franchise and more importantly, the games they make in their own style have sold 267m copies in 25 years as well as fuck knows how many systems to play said games on alongside. Nintendo are richer today because of Game Freak's autism over their kid's game,as long as they keep selling, Nintendo's going to keep leaving them alone.

The brand is managed by The Pokemon Company, which is a joint venture co-owned by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures.
But Nintendo holds the copyright on all the pokemon species, and iirc there is evidence they are the majority owner of Creatures, so if push came to shove they could probably cut out Game Freak.
There is no reason for them to do this though.

Nintendo has no financial incentive to do so. They're able to make a profit without developing the games themselves, and they could give less of a shit about integrity when they introduced $50 paid online with old roms and shitty p2p internet. You realize that Game Freak isn’t the issue right? They have to crunch to get games out by a certain release time frame. This franchise doesn’t just make its money from games, and it seems like they’re under a very particular annual schedule to get something out to fuel the anime and card game and merchandising. It’s this never ending grind for Game Freak where they have two teams constantly making something just so that they can get shit released in time. You could swap in another developer, and you might get a more competent final product depending on size and ability of said developer, but even then the games would still probably feel rushed and incomplete. Pokemon has problems built into its core business model that pretty much guarantees that all games are gonna be at least moderately shit from now on and there’s literally nothing we can do about it. :(

An easy one that would fix a huge issue would be to hire a legion of staff. Fuck the small studio shit, it's Pokemon, you can afford to, they just don't want to. Imagine what the animations could be if they hired 2 or 3 times the current amount of staff to just do animations and nothing else.
