If you like diamond and pearl, or never played them and are interested, they are fine games. I like the region and the oldschool design philosophy with the tms and classic regional dex. being able to play online with friends again in sinnoh is worth it to me.

That sounds nice. I haven't purchased a Pokemon game in a long time, and I don't want to buy this game on principle and because I'm worried it's not going to be worth $50. Honestly I think the game looks fine. The visual glitches had me concerned, but I'm assuming those were patched. In in-game animations aren't perfect but they still look better than anything GF has shit out in the last ever.

I think they have been worth the price, but I very much intend to complete the dex, tower, and make teams for online play. I'm absolutely giddy to get a complete pokemon metagame without landorus. Let's go meta was okay but too small and simple.

Most of the classic gen 4 goodness is reproduced, though there's a few changes. Some Pokemon have had their types changed since, like Gardevoir being psychic/fairy instead of pure psychic. Lots of new moves added since then too. Similarly with ability changes. You no longer need HM slaves, you just activate it from your Poketch after getting the needed badge. There's no bottom screen so the Poketch is a thing in the top right corner that you can expand with R, hide by holding R, and interact with either with touch or using the stick to move a pointer around.

My only serious complaint is they did something weird to the overworld movement. I'm generally used to it and can get around easily now, but for the first little bit I had to try a couple times to get into each door instead of slamming my face into the doorjam. Still, I hope they fix it to a better tile/freeform movement hybrid more like what ORAS did.

Honestly I wish there were a few more changes. Items like Eviolite and Heavy Duty Boots were very welcome additions, it's sad that they've vanished again.

Online content right now is non existent. Wonder Trade doesn't come until February, online battles are limited to 20 minutes, no one is playing the new "contests" (they are butchered to shit), there is no more traps and capture the flag in the underground, you can't actually interact with anyone underground so there's 0 point in doing it online, can't connect to Home. People are just trading to complete the dex and that's it.

You can thank PEGI and the EU for that one. The Euro release of Platinum got cucked the worst: they had to get rid of the slots at the last moment so they turned it into an arcade where you get to walk around checking for any change left in the machines.

Dual Wingbeat is great, it gave Scyther specifically a much needed offensive boost. Poltergeist as well basically fixed physical ghost types.
Triple Axle and Flip Turn are a bit more questionable, but Triple Axel at least gives ice types more options for physical attacks.

I think poltergeist is an example of a new move done well, physical ghosts had only sub-optimal choices.

Worse than platinum, but worth checking out for one playthrough, underground is cool, leader teams are alright, game can look pretty good at times its basically original DP but a little bit better, still gets mogged by Platinum though, Pt also runs faster in emulators, so its also just the better experience overall,

The issue with flying types, at least physical ones, is that if you don't have Brave Bird your flying typing is mostly going to waste. Again, I'll admit that most of my love for wingbeat comes from how it actually makes Scyther's flying typing something aside from a pure hindrance, which I personally appreciate.

but even when a flying type pokemon doesn't have a good stab move, it's still very good to be flying type. giving dragonite, salamence dual wingbeat is not worth crobat getting a non - recoil option to me.

Dual Wingbeat benefits from technician, that's why it's so good on Scyther (and Scizor to an extent).
I mean I get it, Dragonite, Salamence and Aerodactyl can absolutely abuse the new STAB, but for some pokemon it was still a very welcome addition.

It's pretty fun. The addition of Fairy type, updated moves and trainer rosters make for some interesting quirks that set them apart from the originals. TM's are single-use, but technically a renewable resource since you can get them from the Underground or BP shop post game. Grand Underground lets you catch a ridiculous amount of Pokemon before the second gym, though you are restricted by your progression.

The weakest parts imo are the overworld physics and UI screen. Free movement collision detection is rather wonky and can result in some serious bugs. Also, poketch isn't really well-implemented in docked mode. I'm also not a fan of their decision to make certain ingame cut scenes more "cinematic" with the chibi engine.

It's the most fun i've had with a mainline pokemon game since the DS era. The QoL improvements and the difficulty improvements are very noticeable, and the selection of pokemoney in terms of Teambuilding has improved so much in comparison to the originals.

The biggest thing for me is that the remakes are actually faithful, a true love letter to the original - especially when you compare it to ORAS, which was bloated over the top with things that nobody wanted and did not have anything to do with the original. BDSP do feel more like a true "back to the roots" thing, but keeps many smaller, but important gameplay features from Gen 7&8 that make the remakes better than the originals IMO (Lack of HMs, improved breeding mechanics, and general improvements to make individual pokemon stand out more such as more flexible movesets)

The visuals of course could be better but everyone who complains how BDSP look (especially compared to SwShit) didn't play any Gen 1-5 game.

If you enjoy online battles and the competitive side of Pokemon, then don't buy it. There's no matchmaking system, no ranked mode, and no options for rule sets either. You're honestly better off just playing Showdown.
The only reason to buy the game is if you want to play Diamond/Pearl again with updated graphics and music. That's literally it. All you can do is beat the story, complete the National Dex, and screw around.

Beware, ingame has forced EXP share and friendship bonuses you can't turn off. Unless you're willing to force feed your Pokemon herbs, get ready for all the buffs in pic related.
I liked that they gave the ingame gym leaders creative teams but its really hampered by the fact that you get double the crits and free focus sashes and the like.

if i was going to honestly buy, i would still pay money for platinum. but not bdsp. I emulated bdsp, and the lack of effort in the presentation is unacceptable for a full price game.
the chibi artstyle is one thing and thats subjective, whats not subjective is how they are barely animated. they stand there and blink, but the camera zooms in like there is something going on and it just doesnt look good.

Pokeradar chaining would give good IVs but it’s fucking broken so you only get progressively more perfect IVs at exact chains in sets of ten (like 20, 30, 40 etc) coupled with the fact that chaining can break for no reason it’s a bit faggy
