>>48804795I beat this and while obviously the technical improvements are cool, I think the gameplays awful so I'll elaborate.
Its a difficulty romhack that claims to be designed to get an experience similar to competitive play but vs AI, except it's pretty clearly made by someone who's terrible at mons but thinks they're hot shit. The Corviknight is just one of many cases where the dev reduces the enjoyability of the game just to try and force to player to experience their false sense of difficulty. I personally don't care for the random double battles like Sabrina, which seem they're more added to try and frustrate players that assumed a Smogon OU-focused game would actually allow them to focus on a singles team the whole time (not that it matters, since Sabrinas a pushover if you have two decent mons to lead with anyways). However the other most egregious change is locking Gyms into a forced order. Its pretty clear that the mod creator has this huge inflated ego that makes them think their intended Gym progression is more important than actual good game design, and removed one of the best features of Gen 1 to force his shitty romhack down people's throats, probably because they're scared of the possibility that people would beat the higher level gyms even under level lock, completely shattering his illusion that he's even remotely good at the game.
There are some other pretty minor grievances I have. An example of that is having to fight Nasty Plot Mega Gengar. It's not something that ever actually existed in the real games, and the entire game up until that point never introduced illegal sets to increase difficulty, it feels like they ran out of ideas so they just slapped in artificial difficulty to try and make the E4 challenging. It's not like its the worst thing ever, but if you're designing the game to be about fair fights up till Agatha and then scrap that in the last leg of the game, you're awful at game design.
