Team Yell needed more purpose in general. There were no additional admins, no real dungeons or hideouts (the hallway in Spikemuth doesn't count as a dungeon or a gym), and they otherwise didn't do anything of any consequence.

Marnie and Bede were both really good rivals, I think they are the best. I don't really care for Hop, I just think his inferiority complex isn't fun in a rival because it never feels good to beat him.

Honestly, they're pretty good. Marnie is a decent classic rival that provides a connection to Team Yell, which itself is a nice twist on the usual "evil team" that feels very unique to the setting. It's just unfortunate that they later play it straight with Macro Cosmos for no reason. Hop is just a copy-paste of Hau but it's still pretty compelling, I like that he has an actual arc that has a more thought-out ending than "I'll keep trying!". Bede is definitely the weakest of the bunch but even he has a good ending to his arc. None of them really scratch that douchebag itch like Blue and Silver but as actual characters they're pretty good. I still think Gladion and Hau do it better, with the latter in particular being extremely underrated by the community.

She doesn't even feel like a rival at all, she is just a a NPC you battle a few times and she even cheers you up later on. Hop and Bede also have the serious attitude when it is required, and they're better done because they have actual internal struggles as characters. Marnie has a good design, but that's not enough for a rival

My point is that Biancan’s arc was more about finding her own freedom and trying out a lot of things, was a bit sad when she realized she wasn’t a good trainer but she never reached the point of having mental breakdowns for losing.
