>>48810190Dexit. Albeit there were already criticisms and skepticism before Dexit (especially when the 3D era rolled in), but Dexit was the load-bearing piece that really made everything snowball to what it is today. Like, Dexit drew lines in the sand. Curious, did Joe Merrick ever come close to so much scrutany until gen 8 happened?
I feel like Dexit was the ultimate "we can get away with anything" for TPC. Now our beloved Pokéys can easily be locked behind exclusive games; no longer can we breed almost anything in the current game. Want to breed Sinnoh starters? Buy Blundered Diamond and Slandered Pearl. Want to breed most things found after Arceus in the dex? Buy Swooshi. Want to reminisce on the last time we didn't have to worry about dex cuts? Endure playing USUM (aka the last time I ever bought a mainline game).
I miss Pokémon. But it belongs to the dopamine junkies now. Like, they (the developers) don't need to give it their best in order to make a turnout; no need for all Pokémon, no need for agency on how grindy you want to make your adventure, no need for expansive post-games at no extra cost. The bare minimum will get the job done.
Which generation will be the first to introduce the "run away from trainer battles" function?
