As weird as it sounds I want it to suck. Shills accepted BDSP in the state it is and I feel it was partly because they felt it wasn't the next real thing (see LGPE and SWSH) so if their big hype game Legends sucked, I think they wouldn't know what to do and the reality would kick in that neither are the Sinnoh games they wanted.
The fanbase needs a wake up call like that for gen 9 to have a chance of being something special even though it's probably well into development already.

The marketing makes it feel like an unimportant spin-off even though it's self proclaimed mainline and described as a stepping stone for the series going forward. They could ramps things up over the next couple months now that BDSP is out but I have a terrible feeling we've seen most of what the game has to offer already

Honestly this is the best opinion to have on these games. Lack of any more updates (outside of the pokemon added) even with the looming release date is also concerning. And they're pushing them out after the Christmas rush which is weird.

Pokemon is too big to fail. It sells based on brand recognition and brand loyalty alone, nothing else.
And for Legends' case in specific, thanks to its release window, if it fails to sell more than BDSP, it can be dismissed as an experimental spinoff and no one will be upset because Gen 9 will already be announced a month later.

Jokes on you op,PLA is the only game that i preordered because i knew that bdsp could not be the good remakes that intelligent people expected them to be.

Also,i preordered it because of the new battle mechanic, I'm curious to see how it's gonna work , especially in trainer vs trainer battles,of there's any. And before some faggots jump to my throat, nothing is confirmed,we still have to get at least two new videos and im honestly hyped to see them.

BW/BW2 were actually great games for a first time playthrough. Nothing tops the aesthetic of Gen2 and Gen5 honestly.
t. kid who experienced the rise and fall of Pokemania and enjoyed the shit out of every gen with few co plaints u til X and Y. the biggest disappointment I experienced with the games was the lack of transfering my bros from Gen2 to Gen3 but I got over it.
Skipped USUM and am skipping BDSP.
GameFreak doing something like PLA is exciting since it's an actual divergence from the old tried and true formula in a fairly big way. I'm hoping PLA is at least half as refreshing as Colosseum and XD were. Just keeping my expectations tempered unless they start showing off something that gets me excited.
