I am like ten levels over bosses 7 badges in. Did they even playtest this game? How did they not realize it's too easy? WHY can you not turn off EXP share??

Thx, its not even very good type spread wise but is just majorly steamrolling everything, ive even switched quite a few mons in and out throughout my run and its too good. The original games weren't this easy right? I guess i need to play them again, maybe im just not a dumb kid anymore

The E4 have the same exact levels they had in Diamond and Pearl.

I've kind of made it work with training Pokemon until they evolve, and then swapping them out for different Pokemon. It works better for filling out the dex, but if you keep the same 6 the entire game, you're kind of fucked. You shouldn't have to play the way I do and the EXP Share should be optional, but whatever.

its a game made to be accessible to children
i made it more challenging by not fighting every trainer and using herbs to revive mons

What that anon is trying to say is that, seven badges in, Gym Leaders are basically filler bosses. His levels don't really matter because the E4 is right around the corner and will stomp him.

I actually played through the game while skipping most trainers.
I was only overleveled for gardenia since i fucked around in the underground.
I was sub level 30 for both maylene and wake, and actually had to fight some of fantina's trainers to be able to beat her.
My pokemon were in the high 40s to very early 50s when I got to the e4. All were sub 60 for cynthia.
Managed to barely scrape by her by using the only item in battle for the whole run (a max elixir on vespiquen)

Vespiquen was surprisingly good. Carried me through flint, psychic guy and cynthia thanks to defend order, pressure & roost.

Does a pokemon fainting lower their friendship? I know using herbs works, but this method means I'll be spending quite a bit of cash and letting your pokemon faint only costs time. These Amie bonuses are killing my enjoyment worse than expshare ever did.
