But my first game was Blue, the game that I really took to was Silver, and my favorite era is Platinum release through B2W2. Sinnoh is really 'meh', but at least it had an alright post-game. Or, you know, ANY real post-game. HGSS and OG BW are comfy.
BW was designed as, like, an alternate reality of Gen 1. So, it has analogous forms. Trubish = Grimer, Klink = Magnemite, Roggenrolla = Geodude, etc. It emulated the experience of playing pokemon for the first time by locking out old mons until postgame. That was pretty ambitious, and a huge risk, and I think Masuda expected fans to praise it as a masterpiece. And when it recieved lukewarm sales, and lukewarm reactions, he just gave up.
And now we have modern day Gamefreak. So, just a friendly reminder that if you don't appreciate Gen 5 as one of the best gens, you're directly responsible for modern day pokemon games.
