Gen. III was the last generation where completing the Pokedex was fun.

I would agree however getting a legit celebi in gen 3 is fucking ass and you can only get one with moonrune names. And you can only get mew semi-legit by injecting the unreleased event item in emerald, but that just starts encroaching on "just inject lmao" territory.

True, I remember completing the dex in Sapphire after playong colloseum and frlg, was truely a fun experience. Gen 4 and 5 are too much or a chore and gen 6 is too easy.

What are you talking about? It was the hardest Gen to complete the Pokedex. Unless you mean to say that GTS and Wi-fi trading casualized or trivialized Pokedex completion. In that case, I agree with you.

One of the rare times a game sent me on a quest IRL to find out how to decode braille as a kid.
It gave fantasy a foot in the door to my everyday life. Very glad I had the opportunity to play this game back then.

How is it any more of a chore than Gen 3? Unless you're referring to Regional Dex completion. In that case I agree. Trophy Garden exclusives and Honey Tree Pokemon are a pain in the ass. There's also too many Gen 5 Pokemon and they evolve very late.

Image should include at least Colosseum. Without it, you'll need to beat the E4 and get a completed Hoenn Dex on three Emerald saves (assuming you're not on emulator and can just duplicate a save right before choosing the Johto starter.)

Small correction: you can get both fossils in Emerald, one is postgame.

I completed it this year and hated it. Way too time consuming but mostly I hated Colosseum and XD and you have to nearly 100% to get all the Pokmon. Like to get Ho-oh you need to purify every single Shadow Pokemon in Colosseum which takes forever and is boring as hell. Then you have to do Mt. Battle, which I think is fine, but I don't see why I had to purify all the Pokemon beforehand, just Mt. Battle would've been fine.
For the record, you don't need all 5 GBA games. You can do it with only one Kanto game and only two Hoenn games. You do need both Gamecube games.

Some things of note with this picture.
1. If you're not using events, Jirachi can only be gotten in Ruby or Sapphire, so you need at least one of them.
2. If you're not using events, you need the Gamecube games for Ho-oh and Lugia
3. You do need to do two playthroughs of Kanto for the fossils, but not for Emerald.
4. You still need to do two playthroughs of Hoenn, one for Gorebyss and one for Huntail
