You have fairies, more pokemon available in the underground, more moves and tms, a ton of qol changes that makes having ev trained pokemon easier, and even more free mythicals and legendaries than the oroginal. The remakes are very easy compared to platinum, and claiming it was easier in retrospect is disingenuous

Buddy most times a trainer has an Abra or Kadabra in the early game the damn things hit like a truck. Their toughness is relative to the part of the game they're placed in and what other Pokemon are available to you, this is part of why Totem Lurantis is harder than the average Pokemon boss fight as well.

Except its using Charge Beam, meaning it gains special attack almost every turn. I got caught off guard and after two boosts it one shot my shinx, the only thing resistant to charge beam. Its hard because its an enemy that builds massive momentum quickly
