This is the most overrated Pokemon I've ever seen. Shit stat distribution, no moves. Literally all it has going for it is availability.

In Brilliant Diamond maybe, but not the original Diamond. They're postgame in the original Pokemon Diamond. Elekid is only obtainable in the postgame at Valley Windworks by inserting FireRed and Magnemite as a postgame swarm in Fuego Ironworks.

Would have an actual speed stat if Luxray was part Steel, because that's Game Freak for you. Give Pokémon with an immunity and a fuck-ton of resistances 95+ Speed while the Pokémon with six weaknesses (including two double-weaknesses) is too fast for Trick Room and too slow for Hyper Offense.

The Japanese name for Sucker Punch is Surprise Attack. The games use the term “sucker punch” as more of an underhanded attack in general, which fits the original Japanese meaning and the Dark typing, rather than a literal punch. The move itself has nothing to do with punching, so it’s not boosted by Iron Fist and lots of mons without hands learn it.

Not every Pokémon is designed for competitive, these games are RPGs first. It's one of those strong early party members that falls off later on, but remains pretty useful for intimidate, checking threats like gyarados, synergy with staraptor, etc.

If the game has a competitive/multiplayer aspect, it should focus on that, first. Not muh ingame balance meme, that's total dogshit anyway. Even ingame, Luxray having the stats that it has is unjustifiable. It's clear Game Freak made Luxray to try and show-off the new physical/special-split. Yet, they still gave it more SpAtk, over Speed. In a generation with no phys/spec-split, this may have been necessary. But in Gen 4, those stats could've gone towards it's Speed, instead

It easily can carry you through half of the game, maybe even more, until that 65 BP Spark can't cut it anymore. You just need to accept that sometimes a few Pokemon aren't good for the entire run.

Luxray isn't supposed to be some fast-evolving, shitty earlygame tutorialmon. Giving Luxray (and by extension, most other physical Electrics) no good physical STAB was and still continues to be a massive oversight on Game Freak's part

The funny thing is that this isn't even because of cross-gen nerfing, Luxray has been shit ever since his debut gen which was also the one that implemented the physical/special split. They just didn't care enough to add physical electric moves.

My only explaination is that Game Freak created Luxray's stats, before the implementation of the phys/spec-split. By the time they implemented the phys/spec-split, it was too late to change Luxray's statspread

I don't expect Wormadam to be super competitively-viable, but I would at least like to see it get an evolution that is. Wormadam has a pretty cool gimmick, and it's a shame to see it wasted on a Pokemon that's not even good ingame. Let alone competitively
