That's why I'm so bummed they took it out. Finally, Pokemon was progressing past like Mother and Final Fantasy Legend, and then they just went right back. I remember playing Seiken Densetsu 3 and wishing that flying in Pokemon was like that, then they literally put exactly that in the game.

Riding above the region in real time and being able to land wherever you want or go to the outskirts of the region finding islands or clouds that housed legendary Pokémon was the best feature of Gen 6. This should’ve been a mainstay going forward.

One of the most mediocre games in the franchise, saved by some of the best conceptually and well executed mechanics in the franchise.
It's fucking insane, but the rest of the game they are attached to makes me wish they were in basically any other game instead.

ORAS was and still is the next objectively superior Hoenn experience. Battle Frontier isn't needed now anyone can play competitive via internet to have actual hard battles

The point of the Battle Frontier isn't to have competitive battles. That would be the point of the Battle Tower (which exists in Ruby and Sapphire) or the Battle Maison (which exists in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire). The point of the Battle Frontier is to play battles with unique rulesets. This is not possible via the internet.

You're right, what with worlds getting ridiculously huge and detailed, but Pokemon worlds are definitely not more detailed than say Dragon Quest XI or the Trials of Mana remake and those have overworld travel.
