They just miss the point of gardevoir. Some people say “it’s called sir knight because it’s supposed to be like a knight”, while other people say “it’s called sir knight because that’s what princesses say to knights”, but both people are right. The gardevoir is feminine and ladylike, but it’s also a brave protector. It’s both ideas combined in a single being.

I wouldn’t mind so long as Gallade wasn’t gender locked. Getting a female Ralts with a good nature for Gallade is a pain, though I suppose I could always figure out how passing natures through breeding works.

give one of the 2 breed pokemon an everstone and it will pass on it's nature to the child. Giving the other a destiny knot will pass 5 random IVs from either parent to the offspring. Now you know how competative pokemon are made.

Precedent, most likely. Gardevoir was originally the only final evolution of all Kirlia, regardless of gender. Pokemon rarely, if ever, alters anything related to evolution requirements, so Gardevoir is still open to both genders to this very day.

Plus, if they changed it today, they might be criticized for either being transphobic or upholding outdated gender norms. Although on that note, why can't there be female Gallade? It seems like a pretty obvious and simple solution to me, if you're going to have dainty male Gardevoir, it makes sense that the opposite extreme is also possible. But then again, that'd be a pretty significant change and Pokemon loves its precedents.
