The entire movie antagonism was focused on some asshole and its Lycanroc, but for some reason Incineroar is there.
In fact, most of the junk the baracat did in the movie seems to be fitted to Lycanroc Dusk but seems like animators had a last minute switch to who's facing Ash Charmander.
Seriously, Incineroar was just there in the movie. Wasn't even brought up again after Ash came back to life and Cross befriending him.
