Which interpretation of Pallet Town is closer to how you imagined it in your head when playing the games for the first time? Top is from the anime, bottom is from Origins

Top, it's like a small, cozy rural town with Oak's lab standing out a lot.

That's how a town is built. Unless you're talking about a really small isolated village, most average sized rural town (500-2k people) have attached houses, a town square and either crop fields or farmlands. It having 4 scattered houses is meant to be a 90s RPG abstraction

I prefer top by a wide margin. I don't like the style of houses in the bottom, its a bunch of mcmansions. It makes pallet town look too upper class and sterile. Even though it is technically a town I do think of it as more of a village.

It's obvious this small section is a direct reference to the "original" Pallet Town, and to suggest otherwise is to ignore the shape/color of the houses and their long road-like shape.

Hell, you can even see the hazy shape of a town in the valley of the original shot! (Behind the tree and two narrow cypress.)

Well shops are sort of limited and there's not much to do, no sport clubs or dancing clubs, at best you have some bar/coffee shop. Bring your own books. You may or may not be in big trouble if you ever have a medical emergency.

I live in a place like top anime pallet town.
There are no supermarkets, we grow our own food. We don't have access to clean water/tap water so we have filter the water from a mountain and a river by ourselves. Also cold showers. Everyone knows each other. Closest city is a 2 hours drive.

Origins looks strangely built up for being so small. There can't be more than a hundred people there and yet there's fancy paving, as many streetlamps as there are houses and what looks like a cathedral more than a small country church. There's even a three storey building next to it. I will say that it looks nice and it was only shown in a few shots anyways but the above definitely looks better. I like the cosy countryside aesthetic more which I feel matches the game version better.
As an aside, it's really bizarre that Pallet Town looks so different in Origins when their version of Viridian City was a straight 1:1 of the game.

Neither cause the Anime Pallet Town is more spread out than the games and the Origins Pallet Town is an actual decent small settlement. The games never do enough to actually get past that hurdle of making the world believable enough for either interpretation.
