I've heard Cynthia is a fuck ton harder in BDSP, what changes did they make to her that made her so much stronger? I don't wanna buy the games to find out

EV trained, better movesets, actually has held items, better AI

also she has two rematches with the last one having higher leveled Pokemon than HGSS/LGPE Red

Her Garchomp has Swords Dance and Yache. Also Poison Jab if you think you're big-brained for picking up one of like 5 Fairies.

The entire elite four seemed to have buffed AI. They had "strategy" its the same strats every battle so if you lose you can read what they'll do everytime but still the first time it catches you off guard

The gym leader rematch also seem to have improved AI. I replayed Byron and it was pretty cool how his skarmory immediately used Steath rock and his Empoleon used roar quite a bit to force chip damage.

Exactly what I meant. It seems they are programmed to do the same strategy every battle and if it fails the ai really doesn't know what to do after that. Cynthia during her battle will have Milotic spam mirror coat if you have a fighting type out because it reads it as super effective ig. Needs work but I still think this is the smartest pokemon ai has been ever

The AI in general is semi-random if you don't have the max trainer AI settings and if you do you still have Cynthia's weird switching and status spam. It's exactly the same as the D/P AI which is some of the worst in the series, it's literally just the fact everything has an actual statistical advantage on you if you don't grind that makes you think it's better than it actually is

Marvel Scale, buffs her defense and doesn't negatively affect her special attack. Also the burn damage is mitigated by Recover. Pretty brutal setup for a first fight.

Not true, I took down Milotic with a Machamp after a looooong fight and the Milotic never once used Mirror Coat.

I don't expect it to predict every single thing, but I'd expect a good AI to be able to identify a repeating pattern and counter it. I've switched from altaria to gardevoir 5 times, you should expect a sixth one.
