Why didn't they just completely ignore Diamond and Pearl, and released a Platinum remake instead? Even GameFreak knew DP were fucking garbage, to the point where Platinum came out extremely quickly after them to fix the whole generation, and yet here we have these remakes that are so loyal to the original games they're just as shitty as them.
Was it just the financial power that releasing two versions of the same time gives Pokemon?
