this doesn't change my point at all, the anime and the games are still different canons. this is widely accepted and common sense, it also applies to basically every other medium, you wouldn't say the adventures series is the same canon as the the anime

Gay Freak has never been clear on what "legendaries" are actually supposed to be. There's canonically multiple Mewtwos running around which is retarded for all sorts of reasons but they don't care.

Could easily be explained with Team Rocket actually creating several of them, or some other group copied their homework, or they found a way to multiply, or they're from other dimensions. All the groundwork is there if Gamefreak ever feels like they need to explain it.
