Let's say that Pokemon somehow managed to find its way on the PS5. It would still likely look closer to the left due to shitty timetable releases within months of each other, poor programming, and general bad art direction, as >>48843274 alludes to.

Game Freak has to want it, and clearly they don't because they feel like they don't need it, which is likely true.

Pokemon games are the way they are because of the time constraints they have, not because of budget or lack of funds.
Every gen has a 3 year cycle and they toss in remakes/remasters between them, too.

Pokemon is the highest grossing franchise on Earth
If they allowed more of what they reap to game's budgets rather than on Masuda's vacations, they could shit high quality AAA games every year (by having several different teams of good devs for each project)
