Is it possible that wotc didn't have perfect printing? And that I'm chasing shadows? or have fakes just gotten so much better with proxies, and modern day printing that they could all be fake.
Back in the day, you had full card foiling on stickers. And it was a lot easier to tell. fakes would be shiny and thin. or smaller. These are all the same size.

As far as dugtrio's dates. I have no idea. I usually only use dates to verify shadowless cards, and because the small text is usually the easiest to mess up in counterfeiting but I completely missed that
