Do you think game freak is ready for a big change though? They've barely gotten used to the change of 3D and HD. Gameplay wise it could be interesting but it could just as easily feel like a tech demo of what it should be. I'm not concinved it's radically different or a change for the better with what we know and have seen so far

Like LGPE actually shifted up the catching mechanics which was refreshing, and it got rid of random encounters but SwSh still had random encounters and 25 year old catching mechanics.

Legends is the most derivative game yet. It is copying parts of Sun and Moon with the story, SWSH and its DLC for the presentation and scope, and other JRPGs for the mechanics.
When you think about it, this is just Pokémon Crown Tundra 2.

Here in the UK you've usually got people who'll sell em at £20 a pop with a new battery fitted. Thanks to eBay I bought copies of every Gen 1 and 2 game back in 2016 for Stadium playthroughs and they still have juice in em.
