Finally got my Heracross after 11,266 Headsbutts, 24,624 if you count the two spearows. Shit nature but very good IV's.

Headbutting is a pain in the ass but the worst overall has to be SR for a starter in Platinum onwards. Snivy in Black took me 140 hours iirc.

I found this beautiful boy after 342 resets, bad nature but making a Pokemon optimal in gen 8 is ez pz so I'm not fussed.

I actually found a Steelix on Victory Road on my playthrough normally leading up to the elite four as well as a Lanshil in Clover and a Nuzleaf in Alpha Sapphire, I'm actually new to just hunting for shinies as before I only Masuda Methoded.

Shiny Zubat in over 7k eggs with Masuda Method, and it didn't have infiltrator. Inner Focus actually came in clutch a lot of times online however

I don't know, maybe my 24k SRs Treecko on Ruby

I checked my 3rd gen games after more than a year and all the batteries were dead so now I'll have to replace them again...

Also finally hacked one of my 3DS and I can finally make backups of my saves in case something happens

I hunted Giratina in Platinum. Got it after around 6200 SRs, that was my first time ever doing full odds. I was really proud of myself for sticking with it.

I wanted to shiny hunt a few of the legendaries but a couple of them are sword only and I'm of course on shield.

nothing atm - i'm just playing through BD but honestly getting a little bored (between gyms 3-4 rn, where there's very little downtime between gyms so it just starts to feel repetitive)

managed to SOS a comfey in ultra sun pretty quickly a few months back! cant recall its nature but i'm pretty sure it was decent enough

probably the shiny goomy MM hunt i did in US - it honestly killed my momentum through the main story and after i got it i just decided to wipe my save (don't worry, i let a friend hold onto it, butter bean is safe)

I'm currently hunting Carracosta in a heavy ball with 0 speed in Shield and a Turtwig in Brilliant Diamond. All the HGSS shiny runs have me interested in trying that with BD.

Masuda Method for Tirtouga, and reset with Tirtwig! Turtle huntin

My previous success is pic related, my love ball Aerodactyl. My fossil hunts have gone well and have me excited to shiny hunt.

Friend ball Kabuto took me about two months of Masuda Method breeding, but it's one of my favorite so, I'm grateful.

I knew someone that was making a shiny living dex by hunting in games with 1/8192 odds and caught all the shinies, even legendaries in normal pokeballs
I don't know what happened to him but he had a life so maybe life was more important

Thanks, however I absolutely butt fucked myself because I wanted to shiny hunt yveltal and celesteela but I didn't knew you only get one catch.

If you or anyone would be so kind to answer another one which I can't find the answer to, how far into a save do I need to go in order to do the raid adventures?
You get them basically instantly after entering the crown tundra but I don't know if there's any level or badge blockage, I believe you can go into the isle of armor instantly.

You can! Once you get to the hall of fame it'll respawn. Same for the lake spirits. I did the first 333 resets during the main story, but decided I wasn't prepared to catch it consistently, so I ran away. It's a pain because it has aqua ring, and a mere 50 PP overall.

Good luck. The lighting in Spear Pillar kinda sucks, can make normal ones look somewhat shiny, as seen in pic related. Careful you don't reset over a shiny by mistake.

I found my tile pretty fast because it was in the second “column” of tiles of the lake. Unfortunately it reset when I left the room to get more premier balls and went back in, time must have turned over while in there

If you choose not to keep a shiny legend from a Dyna Adventure, then save the route, is the shiny status kept? Only have 1 of each johto ball, and I've heard the game punishes you for soft-resetting the raids.

Rookidee. I decided I wasn't going to go farther than necessary for luxury balls in Sword and stopped and farmed rookidee 'til I got a shiny. Took 2436 encounters.

yes on BDSP because all languages are in the same game. Every copy is the same. Usually it doesn't because region locking and such but this time it doesn't matter. I think same with SwSh (i just made a jap account on my own switch)

I know, but my arm and the slow as fuck resets are making me go crazy, and I do want to play the game, but not without my shiny. most of the time it is, but the long sequence hunts like these can tire my arm. Problem is I'm pretty stubborn so I know I won't let it go until I get it. The worst part is that I plan on hunting Cranidos next and it's also a reset hunt. Should be easier though I feel.

when I bought shield, I didn't care about playing the game so I decided to hunt for a shiny sobble by doing full odds eggs and got it like 3 months after I started
so you just have to hang in there and take breaks and set a daily/weekly goal in order to not burn out yourself

shiny celebi was my first time hunting on gen 2 and I thought it was very hard to do it even when I shiny hunted on gen 3 and gen 4

Apricorn balls are not even rare anymore, theres like 8 different method so far of duping shit in bdsp.
The games are a shitshow, people are just giving away apricorn balls and patches and shit now because duping makes them endless and then the ones who get them do even more duping.

Any gen 4 or below pokemon on an apriball is basically worth less now so if you got a lot of them for trade fodder I suggest you trading them asap.
Theres so many cloning and duping glitches that they cant really fix them all and we find a new one every 2 days.

Shiny Umbreon from the original pearl is smashing a nip ditto witha shiny charm.
2 Eevee's from this breeding spree that started 2 weeks ago. I have quite a few shinies over the years. Starting with Firered i've been transferring everything over to the newest games I have.
I hope Home get connected soon so I can put the 3DS back in to retirement...until they bring in a game that allows me to bring over my G5/6 shinies

I haven't touched the game beyond reseting for my starter, but I hear there are items that enable you to flee and return with out resetting and it is my time efficient, plates or something. I don't know exactly so it's hearsay, as well as having any quantity of said commodity is controversial as well. The assumption being that to have enough to repeatedly 7se the item you most likely will have had to dupe it excessively. I don't know if they can't be farmed with relative ease, but I also know duping takes time too, so what path is the correct one or most efficient is unknown to me. I'm enjoying going through all the reporting while I reset. It seems a wealth of information is being discovered quickly.

I kinda want to hunt shiny ho oh in raid adventures.
However I got one problem, if I go for this I want it in a level ball, yet you don't know if it's shiny until the raid is over.

So how the fuck would I go around this when I only got one ball?
I can't get it back post raid, maybe resetting would work but dunno.
And as an extra, if I find a shiny during this which is quite likely then I'd have to choose between the ball on ho oh OR the shiny.
It just sounds like a long gruesome lose lose situation, surely there must be another way

if you reset at the screen where it shows you the up-to-4 pokemon you caught, you get the ball back, but if you solo adventure the next one you do WILL have the exact same pokemon on the adventure, same natures and shininess. If you leave too many adventures in a row you start being penalized and charged Dynamax Ores to participate, so it's good to do a full run of a legendary you don't care about, or just lose the first encounters of the ho-oh run.

I wasn't trying to hunt it either, I was searching for munchlax instead but since I got it, I said "eh, why not?" and started resetting

People were squeaking for a different tier of shiny since fucking forever, they get particularly bad when injectbots were flooding wonder trade with them (different palette entirely, monochrome, etc) with a higher rarity than just "Shiny". Game Freak finally do it, but fuck the implementation so the chance determination only works correctly in some cases and then their failsafe anti-softlock code works to make exploiting raids for shinies trivial.
I'm inclined to believe there are square shinies, or at least shinies that will have squares if able to move to SS, because ILCA didn't write the code for shiny determination, they got that handed to them by Game Freak as part of the assets they were given to build a new Gen VIII game, they just made the spangles that appear on-screen when they show up.

Okay so what exactly gives you that 93% success rate when chaining in BDSP? I've seen different theories
1) Going into a patch four tiles away from your last patch, then capture
2) Going into the farthest tile from your last patch (can't be a tie), then capture

So 2 questions, for a masuda method hunt a French ditto and English chimchar would work right? And would it be quicker to hatch 5 eggs all at once and then soft reset/repeat or would I just be hatching the same 5 chimchar over and over? I’m coming up on 600 eggs and starting to get burnt out. saving and reloading eggs you already picked up will just gold experience requiem you into hatching the exact same five chimchar forever, so you'll have to pick up new eggs from the day care
