I've played all of the mainline Pokémon games except Sword/Shield, which I was just gifted from a friend. The general tenor of the reviews and discussion I've read about it has... not been great, but my friend (who apparently loved it) is urging me to play through it, and I said I'd do so.

What can I do while playing Shield to make it more fun?
