on one hand it'd be a major "oh fuck" moment if the champion starts pulling out the player-exclusive gimmicks and it'd put the ai and player on equal footing (actual brainpower not withstanding but you get my point)
on the other the battle would be drawn oit forever if both sides just hung on/dodged because muh friendship
