Honestly, there have been multiple instances of GF doing retarded bans to curb cheating and piracy only to have it backfire because they messed up somewhere.
I remember people being banned in Gen 6 when Bank first dropped because GF's own flag filters were too shitty to distinguish hacked mons from legit ones, so they just banned a bunch of people for no reason other than their pokemon looked a little suspicious.
