>>48858699It's also why DS, 3DS and Switch games sometimes have loading screens while GBA games almost never do. DS has to bring stuff it needs from the game card into the much smaller system RAM. Switch is the worst on loading screens since there's way more data to load and the cards apparently aren't enough faster than 3DS cards to bring it in quicker than the 3DS did. Same deal with NAND or SD cards is your games are digital. On GBA there's nothing to load, it's all already there.
A few GBA game have loading screens though, if they had to compress stuff to fit it in the ROM size available and now have to decompress it into RAM, or otherwise have to process a bunch of stuff to get a level ready.
Game cards were a mistake. Bring back ROM cartridges.
