Thoughts on the game
>game is fun because it has a solid base with QoL improvements
>however the new additions such as forced exp share and affection boosts are annoying
>replaying the region in a modern environment after 15 years also highlights a lot of design flaws with Sinnoh itself, this game made me look at DPP in a new, worser light
>at the same time, Platinum improvements are relegated to the post-game instead of being included in the main game as they should, and key features such as BF and the villa, or even features of the originals such as secret base customization, traps, and contest phases are missing
Overall mixed bag. Too faithful where it shouldn't be and too modernized also where it shouldn't be. It's clear some love and effort was placed into the game when you check out the post-game but the actual meat of the main game was hindered by an autistic insistence on being faithful to the base versions. I am also concerned over this game's longevity. Once the novelty of the modern QoL wears off, I'll find it hard to come back to this game compared to Platinum, whereas even ORAS had an expanded dex and new features that can lead someone to choose playing it over Emerald.
