And similar to the uncanny valley effect, the more high res and detailed the graphics are, the more you notice weird things.
But also, with HGSS they smartly drew Rayquaza curled up, whereas in BDSP they just used the existing movement animations, so they were stuck with Rayquaza flying "long ways" and had to therefore shrink it even further. With just a little extra effort, they could have made it move curled up and look at least a little bit less stupid.
