No GTS, no competitive online play, no VGC, no wonder trade, no nothing. This game exists just so they can have a holiday 2021 Pokemon game. It's a miracle they even finished what is in the game in time.

I mean the subscription. I don't know what makes you think the Switch can't handle a GTS, but it's quite clear the absence of it is so they can sell it as a HOME subscription feature, on top of making it a permanent, centralized and easily maintainable system, instead of baking an instance into each and every game.

I'm only half joking about WT missing to sell HOME, considering SwSh had it. The online infrastructure for BDSP is unfinished garbage.

This is the part that confuses me the most, they have a new game out and they're just going to ignore it entirely for their tournaments? It feels bizarre, I get that SwSh didn't really have in person VGC events but it had a bunch of online tournaments.
