What are some of the best romhacks for each gen? And what are some other good romhacks and fan games that don't fall into a particular generation?

Depends what you're looking for.

If you want "better" versions of mainline Pokemon games then there's:

Pretty outdated and lacking in real difficulty by today's standards, also incredibly linear and the Delta mons are mostly postgame only. There's a mod called Detergent which fixes the difficulty/Delta issue though

is it because most rom hacks are total shit? I tried playing this but gave up for some reason, I'm willing to try it again but frankly everyone says this shit about all of them it's the best it's mind blowing a bloo bloo

yes, it really is that good, that's why i singled it out from hacks like glazed or prism which are just 'top tier'. it's one flaw is that it does have an edgy story but you can both turn off the cutscenes and the 'edgy' content and everything else is done basically perfectly

i don't know why this would be a flaw with the hack, but yes, somebody tried to get it taken down by pretending to be him and dmca'ing the hack on several hack hosting sites

Polished Crystal is my favorite and everybody seems to like Prism. Crystal Clear is cool for being compatible with Stadium but it's honestly shit imo. Sour Crystal is kinda neat. I recall Perfect Crystal being pretty much a 251 hack if that's what you're into.

Anybody played Inclement Emerald? I know it's kind of a leddit hack but it seems pretty solid

Fucking awful to play. You know how Pokemon games are about customization? Throw that out of the window since you're stuck with baby stage shitmons and an Espeon for the entire game. Also, it's Pokemon Mystery Dungeon in the normal Pokemon world but the protagonist comes from "our world".

They're not the same devs, the devs are just friends and there's a little bit of overlap between the teams. Rejuvenation was made well after Reborn's development was well underway but has a lot of the same mechanics/concepts (level cap tied to 18 gyms, the expanded terrains, overly complex character-heavy plot centered around arceus). Reborn is set to finish by spring of next year by adding in the last gym, E4 + postgame in the final update and Rejuvenation has 3 more gyms + E4 and postgame before it's complete

you're going to be waiting for a long time until rejuvenation is done. the creator hasn't even properly finished the latest update (that won't be until likely spring/summer of next year at the earliest) and updates are yearly at absolute best, the final game won't be done until maybe like 2024/2025 or something. i'd recommend just playing it now, it's several times longer than any pokemon game and it has a decent enough climax for now
