>>48921469>"Literally everyone" can use googleBy that logic they should remove the guide feature, the hint signs, the item descriptions, etc. because you can just Google that. Fuck fullscreen, and fuck immersion.
The worst flaw in your logic is that you later appeal to the choice argument. By your own statement, multiplayer is fine because it's a choice to engage with it, then move descriptions are also fine, because you can choose to read them or not.
>How would your suggested passives even work? Like they do in every Pokemon game since gen 3.
It's much better to have a passive that, for example, naturally attracts wild Pokemon than to use Sweet Scent over and over again like in gen 2. It's also lore friendly, because a Pokemon with, say, Stench, can't choose to activate or deactivate it's strong smell at will, so having it repel wild Pokemon can be both a blessing and a curse. It's just what it would naturally happen if you were to train that kind of Pokemon.
>NPCs serve no purpose It's sad that you see NPCs as just item dispensers. That tells me you've never played a good single player game in your entire life. What about lore? What about worldbuilding? What about making the game feel immersive and alive?
One of the only parts that made me feel like maybe this game was more than just Minecraft with Pokemon was the Mewtwo cutscene, and that was accomplished by an NPC character with the ability to output dialogue. No human player will give you that kind of experience, and sadly, 99% of Pokemon don't talk, so they won't either.
