I used to assumed that every character is Asian unless given info about where they're from (Lt. Surge) or are obviously not asian (Lenora). Nowadays I just go by what the region is based on or what region they're from.

The default protagonists always use the "yellow" skin tone (what it's officially referred to as), with white (blonde), brown and black being the alts. It also applies to XY's protags too, though Serena plays it off better since her default hair/eye color isn't the usual black/brown combo
