One thing I remember wanting from ORAS was for them to expand their teams...and they did, by only one Pokemon, a Pokemon who wasn't even Water or Ground or Rock type. Very strange. The TPC did a much better job of giving them fitting mons.
I guess in Archie's case you could kind of justify it that maybe he pities Muk, as a Pokemon who is basically a byproduct of pollution.
