Is BDSP really as glitchy and buggy and broken as people say? Or are people exaggerating as usual? How likely am I, as a normal Pokemon player, to run into those glitches without actively trying to trigger them?

I really want to enjoy BDSP, but you guys have made me worried about finding bugs everywhere.

No. There are very few that you have any reasonable chance of stumbling on when you're trying to play the game normally. The worst I've seen are these:
When trying to make your Pokemon hold a berry while standing in front of an empty berry plot, the top option when selecting the berry isn't "give to Pokemon" but "plant" which will freeze the game.
In Candice's gym if you control with the stick it's possible to accidentally line yourself up just so with the tile grid and then clip the edge of the steps. This kills your momentum and stops you from sliding back up the other side like you're supposed to. You can get stuck down there in the little pit with the snowballs. If you're sane, you'll see that you're stuck, quit the game and reload your save. If you're a retard you can save down there. If you've done that, you can still quit and then press Up+B+X on the title screen to load the backup save. If you're a double retard, you might save twice down there so your backup save is also stuck, in which case you're fucked and have to start a new game, but that's really nobody's fault but your own.

So, another question: did LGPE and SwSh also have this "load your backup save" option, or is BDSP the first game to introduce it?

Everything from the original Ruby and Sapphire onward has had a backup save and a checksum on both save files, but until SwSh and BDSP it's only loaded the backup/previous one when the primary save is corrupted.

There is a big difference that you are ignoring: BDSP will be patched/updated/optimized in the upcoming weeks/months, whereas RBY was stuck with it's glitches indefinitely.

You can easily mass clone Pokemon and the items they're holding as well as turn any Pokemon into a shiny and teach any Pokemon any move. It's buggy as fuck, but they're fun bugs.

This. I think this alone shows that people are being too hard on ILCA. If we ever wanted someone other than GameFreak to try developing main line Pokemon games, they were probably going to be in the exact same position as ILCA, experience wise.

This. There are a few glitches that either freeze the game entirely or where you end up very obviously stuck. The berry thing and the ice gym thing. Also there's an NPC who's blocking off a tiny area. If you make him walk out to fight you, then go into that area and save, he'll be back in his usual position when you load that save, boxing you in forever. These are the bad glitches, but they're things you're unlikely to run into if you're not trying to glitch the game.
Then there's the good glitches like cloning, teaching any move or going out of bounds. These absolutely WON'T be triggered unless you're trying to do them intentionally.

Oh I see... That's certainly a stupid oversight then. I hope it gets fixed eventually. Same with the Berry thing and the Ice Gym thing.

Besides the possibility of a game in this modern age to receive updates and patches doesn't excuse the state of its launch
People NEVER seem to look at the future but that's how it always starts and the next thing you know you end up with Cyberpunk 2077 or those broken EA sports games

I don't disagree with you of course, but I think it's definitely not a big problem IF they patch those few glitches soon.

It's certainly not even remotely comparable to the Gen 1 situation, even less to Cyberpunk 2077.

I think the game is far less broken than people claim. Especially when we consider that it is ILCA's first time working with GameFreak's coding, etc. Of course ILCA's 1st Pokemon game is going to be more glitchy and buggy than GameFreak's 20th Pokemon game lol. This shouldn't be criticized so harshly imo.

It's a slipperly slope, like how we went from Horse Armor to Battlefront 2 Lootboxes, not only TPCi they realised they could get away cutting features or in other aspects of the game, but now they think it's ok to have the base game literally unfinished that you need a day 1 patch and even after that it's still full of bugs
The more these companies realise people still consume and defend them, the more they start pushing things, sooner or later you can expect them to release the Fallout 76 of Pokemon

The biggest risk outside of some too retarded to live soft-locks is if someone is button mashing they MIGHT end up with menu storage which is the basis of all the other big glitches. Even then, if you ended up in that state by accident odds are you're going to try and close the fuck out of it before you get to do anything too damaging or stupid.

I crashed in the underground by clicking too fast for the statue reveal.

Text showed up over my character saying I got a murkrow statue and I soft crashed. Just stood there unable to close the text. This was before my 2nd badge.

The only glitch I've encountered casually aside from audio bugs like people mentioned, and a visual bug (random black lines, probably improperly placed textures or something idk) was one where I encountered a pokemon on the same tile as a trainer, and then I went into battle with the wild mon first. When I came out, I could still move around before the trainer's '!' appeared, and the trainer ran to where I used to be, not where I was at the current moment. It's definitely buggy and unfinished, but the gamebreaking stuff is too weird to just bump into.

ILCA had literally no game development experience, they had only made assets (think props for scenario) and apps.

Why did they "trust" the remake of one of the top sellers in the highest grossing media franchise to a studio who hasn't ever made a whole game? Why not hire someone at, say, Namco, Tecmo-Koei, Square Enix (they made a fucking Mario Basket game why not a RPG)?

They don't carez that's why. Why hire a good studio that will cost more money when you can hire the worst developers ever (the game is made in Unity for god's sake, I'm sure they used a lot of things from the Asset Store) and still break records because retards keep buying the game.

And not only buying, but defending it. They are selling you shit, and you defend it, as if they were some little newbs that are just starting. Yet they ask for full price, if they are so indie why don't they ask an "indie" price? (15-20 bucks)

Probably because this was rushed out for Christmas. My theory is that Legends Arceus was supposed to be releasing now, but Game Freak had to beg for more time because no way could they finish it in time for Christmas. Then they came up with the idea to get some random company quickly slap together a Diamond/Pearl remake and have that as the Christmas release instead

I think we are being too cynical if we think Game Freak hired ILCA because they don't give a shit and didn't want to spend money on a more experienced studio.

I think they chose ILCA because they trust them, and they saw potential in ILCA to do the job right. And also because they've already worked with ILCA before (ILCA made Pokemon Home, which, while an App, is a very important project for GameFreak).

I think ILCA made a very good game. I think the only problem is they didn't have time to do a long enough but testing period, so they will probably correct bugs with future updates.

You can store menus by pressing the triggers and A at the same time in the status screen. It lets you walk around with the pause menu up, and acts as a gateway to a ton of glitches. Like the move reminder glitch, where you can store a reminded move into memory, and switch the party member so that move gets taught to something else.

When in the Pokemon summary screen, pressing A takes you to your bag to attach held items. If you hit any ENTER buttons (A/Zr/Zl) too quickly you can open multiple menus. You'll notice something weird when you try to back out in the way the item menu flashes for a second in the pokemon summary screen. Most people just mash A/Zl/Zr at the same time because its fairly effective at doing it in one try but I've read that you can do it just repeatedly mashing a single button.

The menu glitch is something you're unlikely to come across in normal gameplay. But that's not to say the game doesn't have plenty of other minor glitches, like not telling you a Repel ran out if you have another one in your bag.
