The difference is 25 points. Difference between Spark and Thunderbolt is also 25 points, so Thunderbolt gives you a special attack equal to Spark to use against mons with weak special defense and mons you don’t want to touch due to abilities.

Electabuzz wasn't available in DP at all actually and Elekid was available only in the postgame by inserting Fire Red. It's available quite early in the Underground in BD (not SP) though.

Why should I care about stab moves? This is pokemon, baby's first rpg, arguably the easiest games ever made, I just went with Spark, Bite, Thunder Fang, Crunch and then replaced Thunger Fang with Discharge, worked fine. Why keep the Dark type moves? So I can still steamroll over anyone immune/resistant to Electric.

Why the fuck are you caring about your EVs for an in-game team? Just run mixed moves, it doesn't fucking matter since it's not like a single trainer in the entire game is going to be rendered unbeatable with natural EVs and unoptimized movesets.

That was how I played the originals at least, if I were to play the garbage remakes, I'd still end up with the same moves except I wouldn't have Thunger Fang, I wouldn't get Wild Charge, those 10 extra BP are not worth the recoil over just using Discharge.

Movepools are only balanced (e.g. shit for the most part) if it doesn't belong to a shillmon (like Lucario and Cinderace).

Blame marketing for Pokémon like the humanoid rabbit with a job for having a good movepool to complement its ability while Pokémon like Tropius get jack shit.

I didn't go with them because they're stab moves, the only other attack move he had was Tackle, even if I kept that for some retarded reason, I'd still have at least one stab move. As for the dark ones, yes, the coverage is nice, but again, those are all his attack moves and there's no reason to worry about any other type of moves outside of competitive.
