Free XP is free XP so I always do it. How many people know that his Eevee changes what it evolves into depending on the first few battles? Jolteon if you win both, Flareon if you win the first and lose/skip the 2nd, and Vaporeon if you lose the first and second/skip it. Now that is some dynamic difficulty

I feel like most people know about it, but they lose it because he's overleveled and then he disappears by the time they're on par by progressing normally(if they even backtracked to attempt a rematch).

If you mean the rival Trace, he evolves his Eevee/Pikachu, and Eevee always becomes Jolteon

i know about it but i rarely do it. free exp is nice but usually i just have the starter by that point unless it's red and blue where maybe i'd get a nidoran, but even i think the nidorans are level 3 whereas blue's pokemon are level 9 and his pidgey knows sand attack so even if you grind he can still fuck you sideways.
