Which one is better, SwSh or BDSP?

It's not really as simple as which one is """"better"""" but I guess in my personal preference, SwSh. Mainly because Sinnoh is a trash region. That said, even if they do have bugs, BDSP at the very least made it the definitive version to play over the old DPPt, if only becase they don't run like total ass.

But it's a bad remake of a bad game. Sinnoh is fundamentally a broken region. SwSh will get a remake one day and it can only get better.

I haven't played the SwSh DLCs and I don't know how good they are, but I will say base SwSh is mostly shit. Only mostly. What I did love about SwSh was the energy and style it had. I can't remember most gym leaders through the series or even the gyms they had, but the league being a giant sports tournament in SwSh felt really good, it felt like an actual pokemon league and not the weird awkward rooms the gyms are in most games. There gym leaders themselves also felt full of personality even though they weren't overly important. Milo petting his dynamax ball, Kabu having flames in his eyes, Allister's little ghost face, Gordie's over the top animations, Raihan's selfie bullshit, etc. Some of it is cringe, but I can't deny that the little quirks added a lot to them and their fights despite being piss easy. All of that coupled with how good the music was (especially Marnie's theme) came together to create an experience I really enjoyed. For that alone I'd rate it above BDSP. I hope in the future, Gamefreak can make a great, high effort mainline game that has a similar energy to the SwSh league but still unique in its own right. That'd be a dream for me.

BDSP hands down, the game is held together by duct tape and a prayer.
SWSH has the power to fully function, that's my best compliment for it.
Worst part about BDSP is if you played platinum, it doesn't really replace it, and any good changes mean nothing, like "Saving a lot of data" on emulators saving is instant, so it's better to just emulate the game for free, because both the old games and new are overpriced. Hacking of the games is also getting easier so anything exclusive to BDSP will slowly just be added into those games and more making them more obsolete(and again it will be free)
I just don't think it has any real value it's a remake of a game that doesn't do enough to overtake the original(Plat) much like ORAS.
At least swsh is a unique experience until someone demakes it(probably never happen) so it has the purpose of existing.

You clearly don't know what dex bloat is.
Dex bloat is putting Pikipek and Skwovet into all 4 Pokedexes with identical entries and trying to say they count as unique slots like Gen 7 and 8 do. Gen 1-6 didn't have any of that underhanded bullshit and didn't need to because the National Dex was a thing.

BDSP if youre just going for the main adventure. Old Pokemon games were simply better designed and thats a fact, so being a „faithful remake” actually works in BDSP favor. Exp share and affection mechanics suck but it introduced a lot of good stuff too (HM app and not being slow as balls being the biggest ones). Plus it has a much better Battle Tower than SWSH if youre into that kind of things.

SWSH has the DLC which is good, and a much better online, but the base game is genuinely fucking dreadful lmao. The way Dynamax raids and Wild Area alone were originally executed makes it obvious this was NOT a finished product.

I prefer enemy trainers having realistic if somewhat samey teams to a game that shoves a fucking pseudo in the tall grass before the 2nd badge and Pokemon being distributed in the most random of places. Galar has no identity whatsoever, just like Kalos. Its the Mugen of Pokemon.

10 times out of 10 I will say bdsp because of the better ost and map design. Seriously, swshit map feels extremely shallow with little to actually explore because everything except the laughably bad wild area is a claustrophobic hallway.

SwSh. Both are buttfuck easy but BDSP actually manages to be even more mindless than SwSh. I do have to give props to BDSP for having respectably challenging Elite Four and gym rematches, but its such a breeze up to that point that it's hard to appreciate it. SwSh isn't that much different, but:

>the following Pokémon don't lag behind and constantly poof back into their Pokéballs

I feel sick for saying this but SwSh, especially in the context of the games having their DLC now. BDSP are fairly poor remakes of good games, whereas SwSh is a very polished but mediocre Pokémon experience. I'll take a mediocre game that at least seems like it was made with some degree of competence than a remake that was 100% phoned in and passed off to a studio that clearly didn't know what the fuck it was doing. BDSP made me realise that forced affection bonuses is 10x worse than forced Exp. Share. And it had BOTH.

In terms of production quality? Yes, absolutely. SwSh had a bunch of terrible design decisions, but they were at least a mostly polished experience. Diamond/Pearl may be much better games, but BDSP are really badly made. Game Freak's problem is game design, not production quality. And in BDSP's case ILCA's poor production quality overshadows the game design.
