>>48909168Not even. Past games did a decent job of making towns and cities have a good amount of substance to them. Let’s look at johto
>Newbark Elms lab and your house where you can talk to your mom. Nothing special but it’s heightened a bit since you can decorate your room. Feels like home, which is the point.
>Cherrygrove Rather underwhelming but it has the little island to surf to after you get surf
>violet Has sprout tower, optional early game dungeon with an optional HM and an optional character interaction for your rival. Also has some surf and cut spots for hidden items.
>AzaleaHas slowpoke well, a subtle bit of world building. Can backtrack later for rain dance, a fitting reward. Also has Kurt for apricorn balls, and the woodcutters house which supplies the local mart with charcoal, only place you can get it.
>GoldenrodGame corner for fun side distraction, the underground to fight some optional trainers and give your Pokémon hair cuts. Radio tower serves as an amazing land mark with a real purpose since the radio not only serves as a fun feature but services the story at multiple points. It’s also effectively a dungeon along with the rest of the underground. Also name rater, bike shop, and bills house.
>Ecruteak2 towers that add to the lore, each one houses different wild Pokémon and serves a different purpose. Both optional, one houses a box legendary at the end of a dungeon, one houses the legendary trio waiting to be released, and an optional rival battle.
>olivineHas the local diner tho it’s mostly just for show. Has the lighthouse as a dungeon you can do even before the 4th gym, and you only need to do it to deliver the medicine you get from cianwood
>cianwoodAdmittedly not much aside from where you get the medicine. It’s a remote city.
>mahogany Has the souvenir shop which in turn has the rocket hideout, another story relevant dungeon.
>BlackthornHas dragons den, only place you can get dratini, a rare and powerful Pokémon.
