People always harp on on the Pokemon League being written/booked liked shit, I always thought the final contests were way worse
The final for Hoenn is a literal exact rehash of May's first contest, where she jobs to Drew only for Drew to lose to Robert who we never see anywhere else. Good to see the entire journey took us exactly back to where we started. Even in Kanto when she finally beats Drew, she just ends up losing to literal who girl introduced out of nowhere like last time.
Sinnoh is very similar, but with Zoey being even more boring than Drew and Dawn losing to time out.
Its one thing for Ash to not win the leagues, since they always had the option to wait and see if he would win the next one, but May and Dawn only get their one generation, and neither of them got to win everything.
Why are Pokemon writers so obsessed with making the main characters fail at their goals?
