>>48921382>The art style and colors look incredibly flatOf course the shading is more simple, the characters are designed to move around way more. The action combined with the dim lighting means there aren't going to be many shadows. Shit, most action scenes in anime forgo shadows if there are a ton of frames, which there are here. The older anime had more defined shadows but the characters would barely move around at all which is why it looked so sterile.
> The lack of pose holding, proper subtle movements and interesting actions is also annoying. All of these are completely wrong, though? What do even you mean by lack of subtle movements? Every bit of animation has plenty of weight to it, from Pikachu angrily rubbing its eyes and going to turn off the alarm, only to fail to reach it with his stubby arms, and in the later half, the way Ash's mom stalls for just a couple of frames after opening the door so it looks satisfying, or the single smear frame on Ash when he face is slapped, to his hair going from relaxed to fully perked up now that he's conscious. These 45 seconds are full of subtle things.
>it's just Pikachu wobbling around with a doll under himBecause he's just waking up, why WOULDN'T he be wobbly? Shit, the part where Pikachu picks himself up is some of the best animation there.
>leg goes up in the air, then quickly goes back down>Pikachu uses the momentum from this to rotate his body>pushes off from the bed with his head, which makes his ears lag behind him for a frame>swaps the doll in his hand so he can poke Ash's face, which also gives his a great silhouette/line of actions since the energy flows from his right ear all through his body>finishes with him going "fuck it", dropping the doll and rubbing his eyes, opening them for the first time in the sceneThis is some S tier character acting from Pikachu and Ash, who's not even awake.
What could you add to make the movement more interesting?
