Why is Gengar a Ghost/poison type? They should have changed it to a pure ghost or ghost/dark in gen II. For that matter, Haunter shouldn't be ghost/poison either, just Ghastly.

It was really fucking stupid because they advertised it as if Ghost types can beat psychic types except no, not only do they not, Psychic is actually super effective against ghost in Gen 1

The anime said that, not the games. The anime's also made bullshit Type interactions up repeatedly and even mis-Typed Pokemon entirely. Also Ghost is bugged in gen 1, coding-wise it's supposed to be strong against Psychic but it's functionally not (not that it matters since the only STAB Ghost move is Lick, but I digress).
