Does anyone else here feel like people are being really CYNICAL and outright UNFAIR in the way they are criticizing ILCA over a few oversights in BDSP?

I know ILCA made some mistakes (PokeRadar and Shiny Charm don't work properly, there are some bugs and softlocks, etc) but the question is, are they actually significant? Or are people just cynically nitpicking every single thing?

Game Freak were literally smaller than ILCA when they made Pokemon Red/Green. People today wouldn't have given young GameFreak a chance.

Also, from what I've heard, the size of a development team isn't a big factor in a game's quality. The passion and vision of the devs is much more important.

How is Fantina's Banette having the move Snatch an important oversight? This is exactly the kind of nitpicking I meant in the OP.

My guess is they had initially planned to include the move Snatch in BDSP, then they decided not to include it, and forgot to change it. Is this really such a big deal, or are we being autistic?

Actually Fantina didn't have a Banette with the move Snatch in Diamond and Pearl, or in Platinum.

Therefore, ILCA didn't copy paste an old moveset.

Nta but this game cut corners in just about every single way it could, "faithful remake" was just corporate talk to justify the lack of any new features. It's the only remake not to have all Pokemon available at the time, and the game isn't even the definitive version of Sinnoh since it actively removed everything from Platinum, from the visual improvements to gameplay fixes like making Rotom available before postgame or making Drifloon able to be encountered outside Fantina's gym.
Furthermore, it even strips features that were present in the original DP. GTS is gone, Underground base customization is gone, and Contests have been completely gutted.
Even the "new" features, like Following Pokemon, barely work right and look horrible due to the scaling, the Pokemon don't even react to their environment like they do in HGSS, which went as far as to have dozens of unique interactions with certain Pokemon in certain places for no other reason than because it was cool.
This isn't even getting into how the game was poorly balanced, and the average player is going to spend the first ~15 hours of the game effortlessly stomping everything and only have something close to a challenge at the literal last boss of the game.

You can have a better, more complete Sinnoh experience playing Platinum with mods, that's how little this game has to offer. There's no other word to describe it but minimum effort.

I don't think its such a big deal by itself, but combined with how the game was straight up incomplete with midi battle themes and no opening at launch, softlocks, 10,000 bugs in anus, and things like the Poke Radar being broken and Shiny Charm not working properly, it just shows how little ILCA gave a fuck about this game and how rushed it was.
Them forgetting that Snatch isn't actually in the games anymore just just another line on a long list of things wrong with this game and its development.

The graphics are cute.
The music is actually really good.
The pricing is typical for a Pokemon game.

The problem here is that you're using nitpicking as an excuse rather than a complaints actually being a nitpick.
I mean, it's a pretty big oversight especially given that Banette never had snatch in gen 4 to begin with.

Not really, ask any Animal Crossing fan and they'll tell you that New Horizons is pretty bad by series standards. Same applies to Three Houses. SMTV just came out and has some pretty notable flaws as well. The Switch era hasn't been as amazing as sales would indicate, the console itself just has amazing attach rates.

Yeah you should stop listening to /v/. The fanbase doesn't consider either game bad, especially 3H. In the animal Crossing communities however the only thing they disliked was the lack of "content" which has since been alliviated through updates with many outright saying that it's now the best animal Crossing game to date.

Scaling i can agree on, but they do exactly the same, they have something where they look at you or the environment, and occasionally have an item they give you.

And this is one of the few games that actually crams as many pokemon in the game as possible to that point, once you beat the game, outside of exclusives and event/mythics, you can get as close to catch em' all for pokemon gens 1-4. The best i have seen so far honestly.

It has a lot of flaws, but when you use flat out lies in face of the actual flaws, it is sad. if you don't like the game, then stop playing it and find/go back to the one you do enjoy, and let people enjoy what they want

Why are you defending a game having less content than a DS title? The GTS was a huge victory for the series and one of the main advertising points for DP, only for it to be utterly removed from the """""FAITHFUL REMAKE""""" . BDSP aren't the greatest pokemon games ever but they are leagues better than the originals. They actually took the worst gen and made it enjoyable.

Rotom is just one example of one of the things fixed in Platinum that got reverted for BDSP, you could sub out Rotom for like....the updated gym designs Platinum had or Drifloon being in a normal trainer's party so people weren't forced to wait until the next friday to get it for their dex, whatever.
I just chose Rotom because when BDSP first came out there were like 40 threads asking if you could get Rotom before the Nat Dex like in Platinum.

On the other hand, they can't program a calculator, had fucking menu storage, and the GameBoy was way harder to deal with architecturally than any modern hardware. We're not being too critical since they added flaws not present in the originals. You can't call the games brilliant and shining if they are just worse. The remakes weren't given the care and respect they needed for a generation which was originally conceived as the "ultimate" pokemon games.
It doesn't matter if they had good intentions they released slop and all they can do is polish it until it functions properly in every area but by then nobody will care since Legends will be out.

That's actually quite fitting, since neither were the original DP. Judging by the March 2006 beta it seems that much of the development seems to have been crunched into only 5 months despite GameFreak delaying the games by almost a year. Also the fact that Platinum fixed a lot of the glaring flaws and still couldn't fix a few.
